Dr. Avery received his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University he then went on to get his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from New York Chiropractic College. Professionally he has worked both in the United States and Canada and has been practicing in York Region since 2003.
St. Andrew’s Chiropractic & Wellness opened in 2005; it is a family practice with a large focus on sports injuries. Dr. Avery’s sports injury experience is equally valuable when treating gardeners, weekend warriors and dog -walkers as it is when treating runners, hockey players and golfers.
Dr. Avery has worked as a consultant for McMaster University’s Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre. He has also served as the team Chiropractor and Sports Injury Consultant to both the Aurora Ducks and the Aurora Master Ducks swim teams. Over his years in practice Dr. Avery has also worked with several professional, semi-pro, and amateur athletes and teams. A competitive swimmer since the age of 6, Dr. Avery was a member of McMaster’s OUAA champion swim team in 1994. Dr. Avery swam with the Aurora Master Ducks Swim Team for nearly a decade and was a member of their 2005 National Championship Team. He also routinely conducts injury prevention workshops with athletic teams such as his annual “Shoulder Injury Clinic” with the local swim teams. Lisa Bloomer graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from Trent University in 1997. She then attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto for 4 years of intense study and graduated in 2001. During her studies at CCNM, she interned at the onsite clinic along with completing an additional internship at the Anishnawbe Health Clinic in Toronto. Lisa Bloomer is registered with the Board of Drugless Therapy-Naturopathy and has been in private practice since 2001. From 2003-2006, Lisa also worked for a large nutraceutical company as a medical advisor assisting the company in educating other Naturopathic Doctors on using their products as well as a number of other medically related tasks.
Lisa is also a member of the BRB CE Group. She coordinates and runs an annual conference for hundreds of Naturopathic Doctors across Ontario to obtain their required Continuing Education credits.

Cinzia Carretta RMT has been practicing in her field since 2000. She has experience in a variety of conditions, injuries and health related issues. She treats motor vehicle accident (MVA) injuries, sports and pregnancy related issues. Cinzia specializes in pregnancy, infant, and post-partum massage and has earned a certificate in assisting with the stresses associated with the Labour and Birthing processes. She attended University of Toronto and studied languages, philosophy, sociology, development of children and cognitive psychology. Wooyoung (Sam) Chang is a member of College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and is a graduate of Georgian College’s Massage Therapy program. He has treated a wide variety of conditions including chronic migraines, fibromyalgia, piriformis syndrome . Prior to his career in massage Sam gained a great deal of clinical experience as a Registered Occupational Therapist in South Korea. Natalie Kelly is a graduate of Sutherland Chan (2016). Melissa graduated as a Registered Massage Therapist from Sutherland Chan in 2005.
Over the past 18 years, Melissa has worked in a variety of settings as an RMT which include cruise ships, spas, and clinical environments. She is thrilled to be joining St Andrews Chiropractic and working with their talented team of healthcare providers.
Melissa treats a wide variety of clientele but focuses more on providing deep tissue treatments for athletes such as: CrossFitter’s, marathon runners, cyclists, and triathletes.
Melissa also provides treatments to help people alleviate everyday stress and tension, injury prevention, addresses and treats postural concerns, as well as tension headaches.
